The SSC-32U USB controls up to 32 servos and 8 analog inputs
The SSC-32U USB is one of the best dedicated servo controller boards available, and lets you control up to 32 servo channels with 1uS resolution, as well as access to 8 analog Input/Output pins.
Features
The SSC-32U includes two-way communication with query, synchronized, or "group" move commands, a built-in 12-servo sequencer designed to manage hexapod gaits, an improved power circuit, and much more!
The SSC-32U USB servo controller is a dedicated RC servo controller with some great features. Thanks to its high resolution (1uS), it offers precise servo positioning and extremely smooth movement.
The range is 0.50mS to 2.50mS for roughly 180° of travel (for most R/C servos).
There are also 8 separate analog input pins that let you query sensor values.
There are three terminal blocks for power options; unlike the previous SSC-32, for most applications when powering the SSC-32U from a 6V supply, VL does not need its own separate power supply.
The logic circuits have large capacitors for brownout protection, as well as automatic power selection, so the VL = VS jumper is not needed in most situations.
Movement control can be immediate response, speed-controlled, timed movement, or a combination of these.
A single "group move" lets any combination of servos start and finish moving at the same time, even if the servos need to travel different distances.
This is a very powerful feature for creating complex walking gaits for multi-servo walking robots. The SSC-32U USB can be queried to report a servo's position or its movement, sending it back as feedback to the host computer.
The Built-In Sequencer
Besides being an advanced yet easy-to-use servo controller with plenty of I/O, it also features a built-in 12-servo hexapod sequencer; this allows full control over every aspect of alternating tripod gait walking simply by transferring a few values from the host controller.
The board has pins for communicating with other boards such as microcontrollers (e.g. Arduino), as well as XBee headers. These XBee headers let you use the SSC-32U with wireless XBee modules, or Bluetooth/RF/WiFi modules with an XBee footprint.
Control software
The SSC-32 Servo Sequencer Utility program lets you easily move servos, calibrate their position, record and play back movement sequences, update the SSC-32 firmware, and more.
