Proto Shield for Arduino Kit — Stackable Version R3
The Proto Shield is an expansion board compatible with most Arduino/Genuino boards. It works with the UNO, Mega, Leonardo, NG, Diecimila, Duemilanove, Arduino, and compatible boards.
Its specifications are very appealing thanks to how flexible it is to use:
- It has a generous standard 0.1"x0.1" prototyping grid with large holes.
- It comes with stacking headers and strip connectors, so you can choose which ones to solder depending on your intended use.
- An IC socket area for adding DIP integrated circuits with up to 20 pins.
- Power rails along the central channel and on the sides.
- A reset button and an extra general-purpose button.
- 2 x 3mm LEDs, red and green, along with 2 matching resistors for general use.
- A pass-through, stackable ICSP connector so you can stack any type of shield on top, and/or use an AVR programmer.
- A surface-mount chip area for up to 14 SOIC-format parts.
- Compatible with mini breadboards.
- Every pin is clearly labeled!
- The pads and holes are gold-plated.
- 2 x 0.1uF capacitors on both sides for greater external power stability.
This expansion board is designed primarily for prototyping, and proves very useful in robotics projects as a way to mount additional or custom parts, such as LEDs or sensors, or to increase the number of pin connections, such as for an I2C connection.

The kit contains the labeled base board with gold-plated pads and holes, 2 resistors for the LEDs, 1 red LED, 1 green LED, 2 x 0.1uF capacitors, 2 buttons, 8 Arduino R3-format stacking headers, and 1 connector strip.
Arduino and breadboard are not included!
